Make safety the first step
If a pipe has burst, turn off the internal stop tap if you can reach and operate it safely. Keep away from water near electrical fittings and do not touch wet switches or sockets. Stay clear of a bulging or damaged ceiling.
If water is still escaping and you cannot reach us, contact an available emergency plumber. A callback request does not arrange an immediate attendance.

When you call, start with the postcode and whether water is still escaping. Tell us if the source is visible, whether the water has been turned off and which parts of the property are affected.
If the leak is hidden, describe what prompted the concern: recurring damp, pressure loss or the sound of running water. These observations help explain the problem; they do not by themselves confirm a leak.

Explain the situation
We discuss the reported problem and contractor availability. Ask about attendance, the survey price and what is included before booking.
02 / Locate
Find the source
The contractor investigates the suspected leak using methods suited to the property. Any opening-up or access work should be explained and agreed.
03 / Repair
Agree the repair
Independent engineers usually fix leaks and carry out repairs. Same-visit repairs depend on the job, access and the work agreed; they cannot be guaranteed.
Reports and water damage after the leak
Once the immediate problem has been addressed, you may need to consider the damage and any insurance claim. If you want claim support, tell us you need a leak-detection report and agree its inclusion and price with the contractor.
Insurance cover depends on your policy and circumstances. A PCLA loss-assessor callback is available on request as a separate service; it is not required to arrange leak detection or repairs.

Can you guarantee an arrival time?
No. Availability and attendance must be confirmed for your enquiry. Do not rely on the callback form for an immediate emergency response.
Will the leak be repaired during the survey?
Engineers usually carry out repairs, but the leak, access and agreed scope determine what can be done. Ask the contractor about repairs and any additional charges.
Do I need a survey if I can already see the burst pipe?
Tell us that the source is visible. A repair may be the appropriate next step; a hidden-leak investigation is not automatically needed.
Who carries out the work?
Independent contractors provide the services you agree with them. You contract with and pay them directly. NI Leak Detection receives no commission for the introduction.
