What to expect when you contact NI Leak Detection

You do not need to know where the leak is. Tell us what you have noticed, then discuss the investigation, costs and appointment before booking.

Three steps to getting help

  1. 01

Tell us what you have noticed

Call us or leave your name and phone number for a callback from the NI team. Your postcode, symptoms and details of any previous investigation are useful, but optional. A callback request starts a conversation; it does not book a survey.

  2. 02

Discuss the investigation and agree the quote

Confirm the proposed work, costs and appointment with the independent contractor. Mention any report requirements before booking. You do not need to choose a detection method.

  3. 03

Investigate the leak and agree the next steps

The engineer selects suitable tests to narrow down the source. Discuss any access and repair work required. Engineers usually repair leaks, but some work may require another visit.

Before you book

A few clear questions help you understand the work and costs before agreeing an appointment.

  • Investigation and price

Agree what the survey covers and the quoted price.

  • Access and repairs

Ask how any opening-up and repair work will be agreed and charged.

  • Making good

Clarify who will reinstate affected floors, walls or finishes and at what cost.

  • Reports

If you need a leak-detection report, agree its scope and cost before booking.

Who carries out the work?

NI Leak Detection introduces you to an independent contractor. You agree the survey, repairs and costs with that contractor, and contract with and pay them directly.

NI Leak Detection receives no commission or financial reward for the introduction. The contractor is responsible for their work.

Considering an insurance claim?

Tell us before booking so the leak-detection report requirements and costs can be agreed. A report is needed for claims assistance.

You can also request separate claims help from PCLA. A loss assessor’s water-damage survey is a different service from the leak-detection report. Cover and reimbursement depend on your policy and circumstances.
